Private Study Trip – Spain ’16

Montsant, Spain, Global wineRamos-Paul, Ronda, Spain

GRAB YOUR BOOTS… and let’s hit the road!!

An ambitious schedule consisting of 10 days of tasting, dining, vineyard and bodega visits, lectures by some of Spain’s best!! Put your boots on and kick the dirt around a little, wine glass in hand.

This intensive study trip is not for the faint of heart… but for those who choose to ‘live the dream’. Our accommodation will range from rustic 17th century restored mansions out in the countryside, to modern hotels with all of the perks. No such thing as single occupancy on this study trip, as we’ve worked to make this as accessible and financially manageable as possible.

Study Trip – Spain 2016 begins in the old vine Garnacha growing area of the Gredos (soon to be known as DO Cebreros) just west of Madrid, takes you north through DO Rueda and DO Toro, east to DO Ribera del Duero, northeast to DOCa Rioja, up to the coast for an evening in San Sebastian – with some beach time in the morning, down through DO Navarra to DO Cariñena, with a visit to the largest DO Pagos in Spain, east to DO Terra Alta, DO Montsant and DOCq Priorat. We round it up with a whole lot of bubble and swish in the heart of CAVA country on the last day,  and land in Barcelona for the final evening!

  1. Pick up at a designated meeting place in Madrid, the evening before the Study Trip begins.
  2. 11 nights of (double occupancy only) accommodation
  3. 10 days of touring, traveling with two Spanish Wine educators
  4. Meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner
  5. More opportunities to drink killer wine that you can shake a stick at!
  6. Bodega visits
  7. Lectures
  8. Guided Tastings
  9. Barrel Tasting
  10. Cultural visits
  11. Visit to the ‘Museo del Vino – Dynastia Vivanco’ in La Rioja
  12. A lift to either the Barcelona airport or train station first thing in the morning.
(please let us know if you have any food allergies upon registration, and note that there will not be a vegetarian menu available for most meals)

We’ll be having breakfast at the hotels, where we can… otherwise we’ll head out to a nearby bar for a quick bite before hitting the road

We’ll eat lunch in what ever small town we happen to be close to in between our bodega visits

We’ll be dining in a variety of different situations, from inside a bodega, some special restaurants that we want to take you to, at some of the ‘Hotel Rurales’… but mostly, wherever we felt we could have the most authentic, enjoyable meals, and where everyone could bring in their own wine!
